Ordering and prices
How much does it cost?
Every tape, reel and scan has one flat price, listed on our prices page. Film is priced by reel size.
How does the deposit work?
You pay a 50% deposit on your estimate when you order. We count everything when it arrives and email you the real total. You pay the balance when your order is done, or we refund the difference.
Can I mix tapes, film and photos in one order?
Yes. One box, one order. Each item is priced on its own.
How long does it take?
About 2 weeks after your box arrives.
Your files
What do I get back?
A shared Google Drive folder with your files, ready to download for 90 days. USB drives and DVDs are optional add-ons.
Can you add titles, dates or chapters to converted VHS?
Our DVDs include background music and chapters. For anything else, ask when you order and we will tell you what we can do.
How should I keep my files safe?
Download the whole folder within 90 days. Keep one copy on your computer and a second on a USB drive or a cloud account. Two copies in two places is the simple rule.
How is private family footage handled?
Your files go into a Google Drive folder shared with you. Your tapes stay in our office until they come back to you.
Your originals
How long do VHS tapes last?
About 10 to 30 years, according to archival research on magnetic tape. Our guide explains how long VHS tapes last and how to store them.
What if a tape or reel cannot be transferred?
You are not charged for it, and it comes back to you with the rest of your order.
Do I get my originals back?
Yes, every one. By USPS Priority Mail with tracking, or at your drop-off spot.
Is it safe to mail my tapes?
Pack them snugly in a sturdy box and use a shipping service with tracking. Items are your responsibility until they reach us, so tracking matters.
